| Polyphonic Spree map North American tour The Polyphonic Spree have announced the dates of an extensive summer tour in support of their forthcoming album. The Texas collective will begin their North American jaunt in Dallas, Texas on June 23 and hit major cities including New Orleans, Washington DC, Boston, Seattle and Los Angeles. They'll wrap things up in Aspen, Colorado on July 23. The band will also play two upcoming festivals -- Sasquatch! in George, Washington on May 27, and Lollapalooza on August 4 in Chicago, as previously announced. 'The Fragile Army' -- the follow-up to 2004's 'Together We're Heavy' -- is due out on June 19 in the US. The tour dates are: George, WA Sasquatch! Joni Mitchell reveals new album details Joni Mitchell has revealed details of her forthcoming album, 'Shine'. As previously reported, Mitchell's new album will be released on September 25 in the US and Canada and on September 24 in the rest of the world on the new Starbucks label, Hear Music. 'Shine' contains 10 tracks that were written, arranged and produced by Mitchell. The songtress said in a statement that it is "as serious a work as I've ever done." She added, "I am thrilled to be able to work with the Hear Music label on my new CD," said Mitchell. "Starbucks and Concord Music Group are joining me in releasing a project which has enabled me to appreciate what I loved about making music in the first place. I am very grateful to them." Two songs on the new album -- 'If' and 'If I Had A Heart' -- appeared in 'The Fiddle And The Drum', a ballet based on Mitchell's songs that premiered earlier this year. Mitchell said she was inspired to write the song 'If' by her favourite Rudyard Kipling poem. |
Smashing Pumpkins release four different versions of new album Smashing Pumpkins will release four different versions of new album 'Zeitgeist' in the US The standard version features twelve tracks, but three further versions will be released at various locations. Albums sold at Best Buy stores include the bonus track 'Death From Above' while those sold at Target will feature the song 'Zeitgeist'. Additionally, the iTunes version of the album has a bonus track entitled 'Stellar'. 'Zeitgeist' is the first album from the band since they reunited last year, and is scheduled for release on July 17. |
