Spice Girls bickering
Victoria Beckham is furious at Geri Halliwell's plans to perform her solo hits on the Spice Girls' forthcoming world tour.
Victoria, also known as Posh Spice, is determined Geri - who quit the band in 1998 to pursue a solo career - should not be allowed to sing a medley of her hits, which include 'Lift Me Up', 'Bag It Up' and 'Look At Me', when the girls hit the road in December.
A source said: "Victoria is adamant she won't do it. When she signed up, one major stipulation was that Geri will not sing solo."
The row is threatening to divide the Spice Girls, with fellow members Emma Bunton and Mel C reportedly siding with Geri, while Mel B is against the idea.
Geri and Victoria are also said to be clashing over the stage outfits the five-piece will wear. Victoria wants classy costumes, while Geri wants flamboyant outfits like those they were famed for in their 90s heyday.
An insider added to Britain's Star magazine: "Victoria and Geri have come a long way since they were last in the Spice Girls, and they have completely different ideas of what will work on the road.
"With her fashion background, Victoria considers herself to be the key player in deciding the outfits and overall look of the band, but Geri is adamant that she has her say too."
Tensions between the pair are said to be so bad, they had to organise a get-together at Geri's house to sort out their differences.
However, after both aired their views, Geri and Victoria were soon bickering once more.
The insider added: "It was not pretty. They are both feisty and used to getting their own way, so they can't agree on anything at all." |
George Harrison's solo work finally appears on iTunes
George Harrison's solo albums have finally been made available for download on iTunes.
Nine of the late Beatle's albums can be bought as of October 9, with the remaining records set for digital release early next year.
The news means that all four Beatles' solo works are now available on the internet, although the group's albums themselves are still not present on iTunes despite regular rumours of their imminent introduction.
The albums now available for download are:
'All Things Must Pass' (1970)
'Living In The Material World' (1973)
'Thirty Three & 1/3' (1976)
'George Harrison' (1979)
'Somewhere In England' (1981)
'Gone Troppo' (1982)
'Cloud Nine' (1987)
'Live In Japan' (1991)
'Brainwashed' (2002)
Harrison's widow, Olivia, said: "It is exciting that George's catalogue is finally available for downloading. He had begun the digital remastering of his albums but had no idea how the digital world would change the way we access and listen to music." |
Lupe Fiasco Forecasts 'Cool' For October
Rapper Lupe Fiasco will hit the studio this week to begin recording his sophomore album, "The Cool." The artist told Billboard.com backstage at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival over the weekend that he is hoping for an Oct. 31 release date for the album via 1st & 15th/Atlantic.
Reiterating his desire to round up members of Pink Floyd to make a guest appearance on the project, Fiasco conceded, "Nothing has developed yet. But once the stew gets swirling and people start talking, you never know. I hope it does work out."
"The Cool" will be the follow-up to last year's "Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor," which earned three Grammy nominations. Between studio sessions, Fiasco will break away for performances at Lollapalooza in Chicago in early August and the Bumbershoot festival in Seattle in early September.
He has also recently worked with Japanese rapper Big O on the track "City Wings," a remix of Musiq's "Buddy" and on a track from Atlantic labelmate Kevin Michaels' upcoming debut.
There's also a"top secret" project in the works with "another superstar rapper and someone who is a rapper/producer," but Fiasco declined to reveal details, including whether the pairing was for a full album or just a handful of songs. |
